Seller/Server Certification
The TABC seller/server certification course teaches the laws and rules of responsible alcoholic beverage sales and service in Texas. It also covers intervention techniques to prevent sales to minors and intoxicated customers.
TABC strongly recommends that all alcoholic beverage sellers and servers obtain this certification. Many alcoholic beverage retailers will only hire sales and service staff that are TABC-certified because it may protect the employer from certain liabilities under the Alcoholic Beverage Code. Read about the Safe Harbor law on our TABC Certification FAQs.
This training is available through several TABC-approved seller/server schools. Most schools offer online coursework, and you can get your certification in just a few hours.
Opioid-Related Drug Overdose Course
Texas law requires sellers and servers at certain businesses — such as bars and nightclubs — to take this free TABC course on opioid-related drug overdoses each year. The course covers how to identify a potential fentanyl or opioid drug overdose and what to do if a potential overdose occurs. View this course at our TABC Education Center.
Texas Responsible Alcohol Delivery Certification
Texas Responsible Alcohol Delivery Certification is intended for people who deliver alcoholic beverages to consumers at their homes, offices, and other locations away from the alcoholic beverage retail location. The course not only covers similar topics to seller/server certification but also focuses on the specific laws that relate to consumer deliveries and situations that delivery drivers will encounter. You can sign up for this training online through our Texas Responsible Alcohol Delivery (TRAD) page.
