Chris Porter

Chris Porter joined TABC in 2015 following a nearly 20-year career in journalism. As TABC’s director of Communications, he represents the agency as its primary media spokesperson and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Communications Department. Chris previously served as the agency’s media relations manager and public information officer. 

Prior to joining TABC, Chris worked as a reporter and editor at multiple award-winning Texas newspapers, where he specialized in coverage of topics such as public safety, local government, and business. Chris served in the U.S. Army and was deployed to locations in the Middle East, Africa, and Eastern Europe.

Chris is a graduate of the Pentagon’s Defense Information School and holds a degree in public relations from Texas State University.
